Bio

Afloat is an alternative/emo band based out of the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. The band started in 2018 with Josh Rubeo and Gabby Relos meeting at Rowan University. While at Rowan they recorded the band's first EP and began booking their own shows. They focused on curating their sound, building an audience, and making themselves known throughout their area. This effort landed them an unofficial South by Southwest artist showcase in 2019. In addition Gabby also leads a local music collective, Head Above Water which has further exposed the band to greater opportunities and connections. The band's growth furthered in 2021 as one their singles, "Fake Nice" peaked close to 30 thousand streams on Spotify.

The band recently released an EP, “Where I Stand” this past September and they expect it to reach similar expectations if not set new heights for the band. The release landed them a distribution agreement with Sinking Ship Records who produced the EP on vinyl. The band has been featured in many publications and radio stations following the release such as, WXPN, KPXN, The Key, NJ.com, NJIndy, Under The Radar, Doors at Seven, The Alternative Weekly Roundup, Tropical Goth Mag,  Sound In The Signal and Idioteq. The band is using this momentum to end the year on a strong note by opening for Driveways during their Philadelphia show at First Unitarian Church in December. With that they are looking to start 2024 with the same energy by proving they are ready to perform at larger venues and festivals.
